CosRx Low Ph Good Morning Gel Cleanser Review

Updated: Oct 27, 2020

For some reason, my inner hobbit is mostly obsessed with serums and foaming cleansers. In the evenings, I prefer to use a cleansing oil and foam from the same line with the same scent (I’m currently using this pair), and have a different option in the morning.

I have combination skin with oily t-zone and normal to dry cheeks, occasional breakouts.

I’m not very familiar with the CosRx brand (as a user, anyway). I have their pimple patches (which are the bomb) and this foaming cleanser. I’ve also tried their snail cream but only in samples. The brand name comes from the truncated Cosmetic Rx, and the company aims to combine cosmetic components with healing extracts to solve all of your skin’s issues.

This morning cleanser is praised and criticized by just about everyone. On one hand, it has a fan following that claims all their zits have disappeared and this is the best cleanser ever. On the other hand (and there are fewer people like that), people are complaining that it actually caused them to break out. Personally, I liked the product. I actually finished the entire bottle. It doesn’t dry out my skin and helps the small irritations and hormonal breakouts heal. I’ve not had any undesirable effects at all. The scent is slightly medicinal, and I almost never actually notice it. The scent is definitely gender neutral. My hamster Pixel approves :)

The gel is available on* eBay and Amazon

The cleanser appears as a clear gel which easily foams into soft bubbles. I use my hands to foam it and my face gets very clean. I’m up bright and early (more like dark and early) on most mornings for my workouts, and at the end I’m typically drenched in sweat. This can sometimes cause a breakout, even if the face is washed right away, but I haven’t had any issues at all since using the CosRx gel cleanser, so it must be working.

Despite the name, the cleanser is perfectly suitable for use in the evenings. The manufacturer recommends starting with a cleansing oil, especially if you wear decorative makeup, and then use the gel as your second step.

The product is slightly acidic with a close-to-skin’s pH of 5.1 ± 1. Active ingredients - fruit and leaf extracts (5%), betaine salicylate (0.5%).

Verdict: worth a try.
